PET Refine Technology Co., Ltd., a group company of JEPLAN, INC. (Representative Director, President, and Chief Executive Officer: Masaki Takao; hereinafter "JEPLAN") will be working with the city of Sapporo, Hokkaido(Mayor: Katsuhiro Akimoto), to carry out a “bottle-to-bottle pilot project”. PET Refine Technology(President and CEO: Daigo Iga; hereinafter "PET Refine Technology") will be using its proprietary PET chemical recycling technology in this project to contribute to the promotion of resource recycling by recycling PET resin, which is used to make PET bottles, from used PET bottles.

The process is as follows

This project is a pilot project to recycle some of the PET bottles collected in Sapporo back into PET bottles. For one year from October 2024, the city plans to confirm the effects of this project on the environmental burden, etc., and to consider future recycling of PET bottles. In accordance with the "Law Concerning the Promotion of Sorted Collection and Recycling of Containers and Packaging," the City of Sapporo has been recycling all PET bottles collected in the city by handing them over to a designated corporation. The City of Sapporo has decided to conduct this pilot project in order to study the introduction of "bottle-to-bottle" recycling for the purpose of further recycling limited resources.

In this project, we will also be working in partnership with Hokkaido Clean System INC. (President: Tsuyoshi Kimoto), a member of the JR Hokkaido Group with its headquarters in Sapporo City, which will carry out the pre-processing of the collected PET bottles. The pre-processed used PET bottles will then be recycled into PET resin of the same quality as petroleum-derived PET resin using PET Refine Technology's proprietary PET chemical recycling technology.

In order to further promote resource recycling, we will cooperate with the City of Sapporo to promote environmental education and awareness of resource recycling among citizens.
The JEPLAN Group will continue to work together with domestic and international partners to realize its mission of BRINGing everyone into circular economy, and the entire group will strive to drive the circular economy forward.
