JEPLAN, INC. (Representative Director, President, and Chief Executive Officer: Masaki Takao; hereinafter “JEPLAN”) has been an official partner of the Yokohama Marathon since 2022. For the “Yokohama Marathon 2024” (held on Sunday, October 27, 2024, hereinafter “this event”), we will produce participation award T-shirts that use “BLANK APPAREL™”, which uses 100% recycled polyester derived from textiles, as part of the material, and we will also collect clothing from participating runners. In addition, continuing from last year, a specially organized team from JEPLAN and the Yokohama Marathon will collect the warm clothing that is discarded at the start line, which has become a problem at marathon events in recent years.

This large-scale marathon, which attracts more than 20,000 runners each year, is committed to sustainable event management. In recent years, marathons have been faced with the issue of disposable warm clothing taken off at the start of the race. Many runners wear disposable warm clothes to keep their bodies warm until just before the start and then take them off at the start of the race, leaving behind warm clothes at the start. To solve this problem, JEPLAN and the Yokohama Marathon will collaborate to organize a collection team to collect winter clothes, as they did last year.

The participation prize T-shirts use BLANK APPAREL™, a 100% fiber-derived recycled polyester as part of the material used for the body. While being a sustainable material, it is also highly functional and comfortable on the skin. In addition, an initiative will be implemented to collect unwanted sportswear and other clothing from convention participants. The collected clothing and warm clothes will be reused and recycled through the BRING platform, which will not only contribute to the sustainable operation of this tournament but also to the realization of a circular economy.
