JEPLAN, INC. (Representative Director, President, and Chief Executive Officer Masaki Takao; hereinafter "JEPLAN") concluded a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Mori-machi, Hokkaido (Mayor: Kosuke Okajima) and Shikabe-machi, Hokkaido (Mayor: Akihiko Morita) on March 18 (Monday) to contribute to the promotion of resource recycling, respectively.
Mori-machi and Shikabe-machi have both declared themselves zero-carbon cities, aiming to achieve virtually zero emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO₂ by 2050, which is considered a cause of global warming, and are working to realize a decarbonized society.
The agreements will effectively utilize the human and material resources of both JEPLAN and the local governments and will promote both local environmental conservation and local economic and social revitalization by promoting resource recycling and fostering momentum to change consumption behavior, as well as promoting the recycling of used PET bottles into bottles and environmental education and awareness activities for the public. We will continue to promote cooperation in the promotion of bottle-to-bottle recycling of used plastic bottles, environmental education and awareness-raising activities for citizens.
PET REFINE TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD (President: Daigo Iga), a JEPLAN Group company, uses its proprietary chemical recycling technology to recycle used PET bottles collected by Mori-machi and Shikabe-machi, respectively, into raw materials of the same quality as petroleum-derived PET resin.
This recycling of PET bottles allows us to reuse limited resources, reduce the use of new petroleum resources, and reduce CO₂ emissions.
The JEPLAN Group will continue to work together with domestic and overseas partners to realize its corporate philosophy of "making everything go round," and the group as a whole will strive to drive the circular economy forward.
■ JEPLAN Group's efforts to promote bottle-to-bottle recycling The JEPLAN Group is promoting bottle-to-bottle recycling initiatives in cooperation with various communities throughout Japan. We are currently working with 35 municipalities on bottle-to-bottle recycling in order to create a society in which objects that have reached the end of their useful lives do not become garbage but are recycled as valuable resources. |
